Artist's Philosophy

“In my world, it’s not art for the sake of art, as much as art for the sake of your environment. It’s the focal point of a space; it’s a statement of your style. It defines your family’s collective persona or simply your persona.

Through my years as a designer in Southern California, many clients have had the need to purchase art. Throughout frequent trips to the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood and seeing pieces in high-end showrooms, the struggle has always been finding the correct color palette. So, I would have them show me what sort of composition they were drawn to, what textures they wanted and I would proceed to create the painting in their color palette.

From my perspective, my art is about my clients’ desires . . . my interpretation of those desires. It is a natural process for me, as I have employed this concept for so many years in my interior design work. If you visit my interior design portfolio I have purposefully featured a gamut of projects that exemplifies this about my philosophy. Through the journey I have painted many abstracts for my clients, whether they prefer modern, Italian, French, craftsmen, Asian, Spanish, Mediterranean, Andalusian, Tuscan, etc. Many clients love the eclecticism of combining abstract art with traditionally classic furnishings. Large, thick, frameless canvases with simple bold color & good composition, great texture, layering of color & paint and a subtle use of metallic capturing light in just the right way; all with one goal - to make it work in a specific space.”
